Tukur asks court to restore him as PDP national chairman

Immediate past National chairman of the Peo­ples democratic Party [PDP], Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has instituted a suit at a Federal High Court, Abuja praying the court to issue an order according him recognition as the sub­stantive national chairman of the party and also allow­ing him to preside over the forthcoming national con­vention of the party.

In addition, Tukur is also seeking an order allowing him to preside over the affairs of the party until 2016, when his tenure as the party’s na­tional chairman would have expired.

Tukur’s position was con­tained in a counter claim he filed at the registry of the court yesterday through his counsel, Adamson Adeboro. The motion comes up today for hearing by Justice Evoh Chukwu.

The counter claim was a response to a suit instituted by an aspirant to the House of Representatives in Ad­amawa State, Aliyu Gurin, seeking to unseat the present National Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu and also stop the party’s planned delegates convention.
