Man paid for takeaway with forged £10 made from toilet roll

A man paid for a takeaway meal with a £10 note made out of loo paper.

Tyrone Coburn, 27, used his PC to print the forged cash but a delivery driver’s daughter noticed it was a fake.

Coburn, of Ferndale, south Wales, was last week fined £145 by Pontypridd magistrates after admitting using counterfeit currency.

‘It is the most expensive takeaway of his life,’ said lawyer Pat Matthews.

‘He didn’t have any money, and got very hungry.’

Prosecutor Andrew Gwynne said: ‘It appears the gentleman had chanced his arm.

‘He passed what was clearly a fake note and thought the only way he could get away with it was a late night exchange for a Chinese takeaway.

‘When a delivery driver returned from the property and had gone back into the shop his granddaughter handed a note which she thought was a ‘Toy Town £10.’
