Man poses in underwear to show hidden effects prostate cancer can have on your life

A man with prostate cancer has spoken out about his battle with the disease in a Facebook post which has quickly gone viral.

In the summer of 2014 Kurt Jewson, 44, noticed that he had blood in his urine.

After seeing his GP to get checked out, he was told it was ‘probably just an infection and would clear up’.

Just as GP had told him, the blood did clear up. But, while Kurt was relieved that there was no longer any signs of blood, unfortunately, this wasn’t a sign that there was nothing wrong.

Kurt was actually living with prostate cancer that while going undetected had spread quickly over a period of 12 months.

Kurt is currently awaiting radiotherapy with the possibility of chemotherapy and has decided to speak out about his illness to raise awareness in the hopes he might be able to save others who may be silently affected by prostate cancer.

Kurt, who now has to use a catheter and wear a colostomy bag after an operation to give him a stoma, posted a photo in his underwear to Facebook along with a post urging others to get checked out before it’s too late.

‘If you have blood in your urine, or any other symptom listed on prostateUK’s website, get a blood PSA test,’ he says.

‘If my GP had simply taken some blood and sent it off for a PSA test, we would have caught this at an early, and much more manageable stage.’

He adds here that the test is ‘NOT a finger up the ass, that comes later’.
